A Four Day Workweek?
Wednesday July 23, 2008
What a great way to save money - a four day workweek. Fairfax County officials are considering a change to a four-day workweek for county employees. With the rising cost of gas and global warming as big issues to solve, it seems that a move to a four day workweek could solve a lot of problems that America is facing. According to
the Washington Post, Utah and some other governments have adopted a workweek of four 10-hour days instead of five eight-hour days, reducing pollution and saving energy costs. I would think that a lot of employees would love this arrangement. What do you think? Could all government workplaces change their schedules to a four-day workweek? How about commercial establishments? A lot of people in the Washington, DC area commute a long way to work and spend a lot of time in congested traffic. A shorter work week could reduce traffic congestion and give workers more personal time. Seems like a good way to reduce stress to our overworked community.
